Many companies never build a prototype on simpler products since they are able to produce computer models and images that so closely resemble the finished product, for only a portion of the cost. In most cases much of the design can be evaluated and design changes made before the first prototype, saving thousands of development dollars.

Fit and configuration evaluation are able to be performed, assembly issues resolved, product manuals and parts diagrams created concurrently with the analysis and production drawings.
